Madelin Aho, a senior at Westover School in Middlebury, CT, will continue her student-athletic career competing on the Division III crew team at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY this year.
"Maddie has had tremendous growth from her sophomore year,” Westover Crew Coach Jeff Galusha said. “She talked a lot about her love of rowing in previous years but really wasn't able to show it until this year. She is focused and determined to do the best she can, working out diligently on off days as well as pushing herself to her limits during practice.”
On Wednesday, May 12, at Westover’s school-wide assembly, Madelin was recognized for her commitment to Skidmore this coming fall.
"These past four years, rowing at Westover has shown me the power of teamwork and has helped me work towards my goals,” Madelin said. “I have never seen a team so close and energetic, where everyone gives it their all to learn and improve. Rowing has always been a passion of mine, and Westover gave me a place to be a leader, grow, and strengthen my love for rowing."
Madelin is a boarding student at Westover and hails from Saxtons River, VT. She has competed on the Westover crew team for four years and in 2019 was part of the noive boat that went undefeated on the season.
“Not only is she a force in the boat, but she is a leader for the whole team with a fantastic attitude,” Jeff said.
Beside crew, Madelin was a member of the varsity soccer team, academically and completed the prestigious Westover Sonja Osborn Museum Studies Internship (SOMSI) program for the 2020-21 year.
