Adams Library

The Adams Library is centrally located on campus—a short walk from the dorms, main quad, and fine arts center. Natural light from the atrium, skylights, and wall of windows creates a welcoming environment where students work in groups, find a quiet place to read or study, and in the colder months enjoy sitting by the fireplace in our poetry alcove. 

The library houses a diverse collection of resources to support independent reading and academic research. The community has access to 17,000+ print books, a wide range of databases, digital newspapers, eBooks and audiobooks, as well as a research management platform to support academic inquiry.  In addition to independent use of the library, classes come in for formalized instruction in research and media literacy, and individualized support is available at any point in the research process. Our students, faculty, and wider community are also able to schedule appointments with our Archivist or Archives Staff to visit the Maria Randall Allen '42 Archives on campus, which provides an opportunity to conduct research into the 100+ year history of the school through the exploration of items in the collection.

Nancy Florio, Director of Library and Archives at Westover, serves on the national board of the Association of Independent School Librarians. She is an enthusiastic supporter of providing equitable access to resources for lifelong learning and reading, and counts collaborating with teachers to support students in research and information literacy skills throughout the curriculum as one of the highlights of her job.
