Iain Haley Pollock will be visiting Westover School for a poetry reading on January 20th, 2023 at 7PM; the poetry reading is open to the public.
Iain Haley Pollock is the author of two poetry collections, Spit Back a Boy, which won the 2010 Cave Canem Poetry Prize, and Ghost, Like a Place, which was nominated for an NAACP Image Award in 2019. His poems have appeared or are forthcoming in African American Review, American Poetry Review, The New York Times Magazine, and The Progressive. Outside of publishing poems, Pollock performs his work widely, at venues ranging from the Dodge Poetry Festival to libraries, art centers, and schools; he curated the Rye Poetry Path, a public poetry installation in Rye, NY; and he serves on the boards of Slapering Hol Press and Tiger Bark Press. After majoring in English at Haverford College and earning his MFA in Creative Writing at Syracuse University, Pollock spent 15 years teaching middle- and high-school English at Springside Chestnuthill Academy and at Rye Country Day School, where he served as chair of the English department. Currently, he directs the MFA in Creative Writing Program at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY, and lives with his family in the Lower Hudson Valley.

Members of the public who wish to attend the poetry reading are asked to wear masks while visiting the school, and to enter the School through the main entrance on the Middlebury Green.
