Wildcats Show Huge Heart Down the Stretch in Danbury

In a critical HVAL contest Friday evening, the Westover Wildcats took a huge step forward in their development this season.  The Wildcats played a tough game on the road for the second straight contest.  This time however, they would capture their first win of the season 34-33.

Westover came out scoring well offensively.  Wooster was able to match however, and the first quarter ended even at 8 a piece.  Both teams stepped up defensively in the second quarter as there were just seven points scored.  Wooster took a 13-10 lead into the half.  Then, despite dealing with an injury to their starting point guard, Westover was able to cut into the lead going on a 10-8 run over the course of the third quarter to set up the dramatic fourth quarter finish.  Down 5 points with 1:30 left, the Wildcats finished the game on 6-0 run capped by the winning free throw from Georgia with :14 left.  Aniella posted her best game of the season to date with 17 points and 16 rebounds.  Wooster had a chance to win or tie the game on their last possession with two free throws with 2.4 seconds remaining but missed both and did not get a shot off after claiming the offensive rebound.
