About

Campus Safety

Westover Campus Security is stationed in the Main Building with an office in the mailroom.

Overnight security guards provide a safety presence during evening and early morning hours in tandem with Administrators on Call (AOC) who provide 24/7 oversight of the campus and student population. Students, families, and employees can contact Campus Safety after hours by calling 203-704-1013 or the AOC anytime at 860-993-7161.

Campus is monitored by walking and vehicular patrols that operate alongside a network of public security cameras. Cameras monitor primary points of entry and key public locations. All campus buildings are locked 24/7 and require a keycard to enter. Specific buildings are restricted to students during evening hours and keycard access is automatically turned off at those times.

The Westover safety team (otherwise known as the SAFE Team) pre-plans and coordinates emergency drills and conducts regular safety audits of all security systems across campus, including our locking systems, fire alarms, and emergency broadcast system. The SAFE Team also meets regularly with local police and fire services to discuss best practices for school safety.

BrightArrow is our emergency broadcast system for mass notifications and allows emergency alerts and updates to be sent to our community through emails, phone calls, and text messages when needed.
