Westover’s main building is designed to foster a strong sense of community, and this is especially evident in our Residential Life program. The school’s dormitories are located on the second and third floors of the main building, with interconnected hallways that allow students of all grades—Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors—to move freely between spaces, visit friends, and spend time together.
At the ends of each hallway are the Dorm Faculty apartments. These staff members, whose primary role is in the dorms, are dedicated to supporting student well-being and fostering a sense of community among the boarding community. They live full-time in the dormitories with their families and pets, making the environment feel even more like a home away from home.
After dinner and study hall, boarders have time to unwind in their rooms, relax with friends in the communal lounges or spend time in their Dorm Faculty member’s apartment, where they can enjoy a snack and socialize. Later in the evening, Proctors—student leaders elected to support residential life—make their rounds, visiting each room to offer reminders and wish everyone good night.
On weekends, students can take part in a variety of activities both on and off-campus. Whether it’s a trip to Target, a movie night in the Student Commons, a social event with our consortium schools, or an exciting excursion to New York City, there’s always something fun to do!
