Staff Spotlight - Ryan Dukarm

By: Abby Leyson
Meet Ryan Dukarm, Westover's Associate Director of College Counseling. From his office in Johnson Quad, Ryan connects with students across all grade levels, building relationships that support them throughout their journey.
With a four-year college counseling curriculum, Ryan and his colleagues guide students as they explore new interests, grow in confidence, and shape their futures. By truly getting to know each student, the College Office helps them navigate opportunities that align with their strengths.

Since joining Westover, Ryan has made a meaningful impact both on campus and beyond, supporting students and families through every step of the college process.

Get to Know Ryan in His Own Words

What year did you start at Westover? This is my first year at Westover! I started in August of 2024.
Favorite Westover tradition: Candlelight! I found my first Candlelight to be such a wonderful tradition. The connection between the entire community that you can feel while in Chapel, the diverse range of faiths, traditions, holidays, and experiences our community has that tie us together, and the actual candles themselves all made it a really special time of the year!
Favorite Westover meal: Pulled pork
Do you live on campus? No
What is your favorite thing about working at Westover? It's absolutely been the students and the community. Everyone here has been so kind and welcoming to me as a new faculty member, and getting to work so closely with students as they begin to imagine what their next step after Westover will be continues to be the best part of my job.
What are you looking forward to in the remainder of the school year? I'm looking forward to all the traditions I haven't gotten to experience yet! From spring performances to Lantern, Orchard, and Graduation I'm really excited to see how Westover continues to celebrate community and send the seniors out into the world.
What is the first question you wish people would ask to get to know you? Can I see pictures of your cat, Soju? The answer is always yes.
What is a topic that you could talk about for hours? Buffalo sports teams. I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, so for better or worse I spend a lot of my time watching and thinking about the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres. While I love the actual sports of football and hockey, rooting for my hometown teams is a great way to stay in touch with friends and family back home too!
